My monitor refuses to change refresh rate!

Monitor is a Viewsonic G90fm

Now i was using it in windows at 1024x768 at 85 Hz with no problems at all. But in X-Windows no matter what i put in the modeline in XF86Config it refuses to go above 75 Hz. I am using the gtf tool to generate the modelines, tried 85 Hz, 100 Hz etc, no good.

Video card is a Geforce3 and i am using Slackware 9.1

Any suggestions?

You can have modelines galor, but it won't help you until you change/adapt the vert and horz freq specs in the xfree config file. For Xfree 4.3, see http://www.xfree86.org/4.3.0/XF86Config.5.html .
Have Fun!
