They are mounted, they were ok a week ago. When i try to acces them it says they dont seem to exist anymore. In properties/permissions it says root everyhwere and their icon has a lock on them. Type= Locked directory.

cause you said they are mounted.....so i assumed that you mounted the drives....so lets start with this then..what... what message do you get when you DO try to mount or umount the drives....
Sounds to me like you're not mounting them properly. On my particular machine, the command is "mount /dev/cdrom" then I go cd /media/cdrom and I'm there. Yours should be similar if not the same. You might have to be su to mount and unmount. There's no other reason I can think of why they should be "blocked", especially if you're logged in as root.
ok i am not sure what you mean by remounted, but that is irrelavent....so, if the drive is presently mounted go into the terminal and use the umount command to unmount the drive....and, if it is not currently not mounted, then use the mount command to mount the drive....in either case, tell what the error is when you issue one or the other, or both...
omg....what is the same thing....that means nothing to us....you have to tell us what your experiencing, for us to help you....now once again....tell us what errors (IF ANY) do you get when you do this :

the only info we have seemed to get outta you is that you get an I/O error when trying to read the drive...that could be caused by a faulty cd, or some problem that we could soon find out about...
so tell what output you get from the above...
i also want to throw in a couple of more things to take into consideration....
have you tried different cd's resulting in the same errors?
what type of cd is it?
