Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

My Autistic Kindle

My Autistic Kindle

A foundling, my beloved Kiki the Kindle was abandoned at birth. Homeless, she has no way of calling home. Her B003 identification allowed her to install firmware 2.5.8, and she is a very good reader, storing many free volumes from Gutenberg.org and Google books, and not at all interested in purchasing new for sale books. She easily keeps up with my reading six books at a time finishing one a day jones. However she innately realizes something is missing, the ability to talk to others. Kiki wants to find her sisters, browse the web, read and write email, she wants WiFi. And I want to help her develop her abilities to allow her to reach her full potential.
I have heard certain Linux incantations have the ability to start a Kindle WiFi, could someone suggest the correct one. Kiki has a place on our network and she understands Linux as spoken by Fedora and Ubuntu. She is amenable to having a completely new OS, and certainly would not miss Emily or the snakes.
So, can anyone help Kiki call home?

http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19557 might help.

It links to this:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/tivousbwifi/

I have no idea whether it works.

Don't have a Kindle,
don't have a Nook,
all I need is FBReader,
give it a look.
