multimedia keys vpr Matrix 170B4 Debian Sarge

Hey hey hey,

I'm trying to setup my multimedia keys for use and am a bit confused. I was following this tutorial on setting up the keymaps, which is a bit gentoo related and ran into a bit of a problem.

Anyway, I looked through dmesg and get this
Code:
atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0x74 on isa0060/serio0).
atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes 74 <keycode>' to make it known.
Now dmesg says to use the setkeycodes command to make it known. Will this carry over to a reboot?

And how do I know which keycode do I use? If I do a xmodmap -pke I can see all the keycodes. But do I just randomly pick an empty keycode to assign the multimedia keys to?
