Multi-monitor mouse positioning problems in VMs

I am having issues with a 3-monitor setup on both Ubuntu and Centos 6 (Gnome desktop) running as virtual machines under both fusion and parallels as a full screen application (uses all three monitors). When typing in to a window, the mouse cursor disappears as it normally does. When I move the mouse to restore the cursor display on the screen, it reappears on a different monitor. For example, if I have terminal windows open on the middle monitor and type in to one of the terminal windows, the cursor hides as it should. When I move the mouse, the cursor reappears on the right monitor to the far right side. Sometimes when I click on an application icon, the cursor disappears and then reappears on a different monitor. I don't think this is a VM issue as it is happening on two distros under two different virtualization systems. It also only happens on applications that hide the mouse cursor on keyboard input. Firefox, for example, doesn't hide the cursor on keyboard input and the cursor behaves normally. I can't find any way to disable the show/hide cursor which would be one acceptable solution.

I am running on a Mac Pro with 3x Apple Cinema displays.

My only idea is to have a look at xorg.conf, in particular the ServerFlags and the InputClass sections and play with the parameters. X does not always behave rationally...
