MTP - Media Transfer Protocol. Any word on it?

Does anyone know if anyone is working on getting MTP to linux? I sure hope so as cameras and media players are now using it. (Creative is switching over to it completely.) I can wait a few more months, but I may scream if I can't update my media player without going to windows.

Thanks fellas and ladies!

If you have libmtp installed correctly it's supposed to synchronise seamlessly. For me, it has proved to be the work of Satan. I have had no success negotiating this protocol
