MSI MS-7037 w/Intel P4 2.8

My motherboard on my linux (scratch 2.6.17.7) PC needed replaced. I replaced with MSI MS-7037 ver. 1 (865GVM2-LS chipset), 256 DDR400 RAM, Intel P4 2.8 GHz CPU. Now my hard drive (western digital 40gb) starts to load the kernel and reboots part way through. I put the hard drive on my friend's pc (AMD AthlonXP 3.0 CPUI) and it boots my linux kernel just fine. What am I missing with this new MB, CPU and RAM?
Thanks!!
