MSI 875P NEO-FIS2R i875P boot problem

Hey guys,
I am having a bit of a problem getting Linux to boot up when I have my onboard IDE controller set to work in native mode. I have an MSI 875P NEO-FIS2R i875P motherboard with a SATA hard drive, a regular IDE hard drive, a DVD-ROM and a DVD-R drive. Linux is installed on the SATA drive along with windows. Everything is fine if I set the IDE controller to legacy mode but the problem with this is only some of my devices show up, both in linux and windows. If I set it to native mode which allows all devices to be used in windows, I get the following error when linux is booting...

kernel panic: no init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I would appreciate any help I can get.

i too have a similar problem, sort of.
my saitek usb dual force rumble pad was crashing the linux installer with a failed usb something something, i had to unhook it.

if your having troubles with WINDOWS not recognising hardware with the incredibly awesome 865pe neo2 fis2r board then try turning off ACPI in the bios also leave it on native mode also try turning th P-ata to on and both inthe bios ide settings.
also make sure that the boot device priority is set properly.

xo installed and recognises all of my devices fine but i have yet to get linux ot install.

i tried collegeLinux and it installed all the files supposedly but after rebooting it said "Unable to find Operating System" so i have no clue what happened but i tried the install 3 times and it said it was successful but wont boot. and i made sure Lilo was installed too. it doesnt give the option to make a boot floppy or i would have, i wish i knew how to make one or i would.

feel free to email me or PM me here and ill try to help you with your windows troubles, i cant be much help for linux as i am totally a true linux noob.
