ms usb mouse with 2.6 kernel

I have upgraded my machine to 2.6 and now my mouse doesnt seem to work. I have a MS scroll mouse. I must have missed something in the kernel. It seems to actually work with X but the pointer doesnt move. Also, I noticed instrad of in the message log instead of detecting the mouse and spitting out what type it is I get the following.

Jan 5 23:50:11 mainbox kernel: hub 3-0:1.0: new USB device on port 1, assigned address 3

Check out your config again for these things. I prefer to make HID a module because I had stability issues before with it built in...

Input device support ---> <*> Event interface
USB support ---> <M> USB Human Interface Device (full HID) support [*] HID input layer support
