Moved Harddrive to External Drive; Computer boots to recovery mode if Off
I had a hard drive in my computer that I use for backup. So I have it in fstab so I can make sure it always mounts in the same spot. I moved it to an external enclosure to make space inside the computer for another drive. The external enclosure is supposed to go on and off when the computer does. It turns off when the computer turns off, but it doesn't turn on (on its own) when the computer turns on. So I have to remember to do it manually. If I forget, the computer boots into recovery mode.
Yes, I would like to not forget to turn on the backup drive, but I also don't want the computer to be unbootable if it's not available for some reason. Is there some option I need to change in /etc/fstab to make it so that the computer doesn't care if it's on, but does automount if it is? Thanks |
it seems like some weird bug in fedora where if my mp3/video player isnt plugged in, it will go to some recovery console...
what i did was take the entry out of /etc/fstab and added a line to /etc/rc.local: Code:
mount /dev/sdc /media/av500 |
Never came back and posted my solution - just make it so that the drive is not automount in fstab.
