move the image on my monitor

I love my Linksys KVM switch to shift between a computer running windows 2000 and one running RH 9. Everything works great except the computers want to position the image on my flat panel monitor at slightly different horizontal locations (the Linux box displays about 1/2 inch to the right of where the windows box displays -- hiding handy window controls). This may be an OS issue becaues I have the same problem on my kid's computer that dual boots Mandrake 9 and windows 98.

Is there a way to configure Linux to position the displayed image over to the left a little?

Try using the xf86cfg or xvidtune tools. It's a bit diffucult to save the changes you make using xvidtune.

Thanks aaa for sage advice. I ran xvidtune and used the "left" and "test " buttons to re-position my screen. The "show" button then displayed a line of parameters that I prefaced with "Modeline" and pasted into the Monitor section of my XF86Config file. Not sure how to re-start X so I re-booted and got the display right where I wanted it.
