Move system from EIDE to SATA

Hi,

I have just installed my new motherboard (with my two old EIDE hard disks). The mother board has also 4 SATA interfaces and now I'd like to move the system on a couple of new SATA hard drives.
The problem is that the 2 old EIDE HDs are installed as RAID1.

Is there a detailed guide to follow in order to avoid any mismatching in the migration? Is using dd safe?

Thanks

Fabio

Do not forget that PATA and SATA drives require different drivers; I had some very very bad experiences at one time copying a distribution from PATA to SATA - it simply didn't know how to handle the new sort of disk. I suggest you do some extra research before even trying to make the move.
