mouse side buttons (mixed up mapping)

I have tried everything to get my MS Intellimouse Explorer mouse to work.
I've read all the forums about xmodmap and imwheel.
Whats happening is that the side buttons are mapped to 4 and 5 when PRESSED but 6 and 7 when RELEASED. ?!?

I use:
xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5"
imwheel -f -k -b "67"

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

snippet from xorg.conf
Quote:
Section "InputDevice"

# Identifier and driver

Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Buttons" "7"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"

EndSection

xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5" &

imwheel -k -b 67 &

My problem is that I haven't figure out how to get this to start automatically.
I have to run it from the command line everytime I logon
.xinitrc doesn't do it.
