Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Mouse set to None - Add a mouse to Mandrake KDE

Just installed Mandrake 9.0 on a laptop and said "none" when asked what type of mouse. So, when i boot up i of course have no mouse or touchpad or whatever - no cursor. On my desktop, i see that i could make this change in the Mandrake Control Center under Hardware and Mouse. However, though i can do almost everthing with a keyboard on the laptop, i cant navigate in the MCC without a mouse it seems. Any place where i can make this change without the aid of a mouse?

thanks

switch to runlevel 3 or 1 and edit your XF86Config/XF86Config-4 file and set your mouse.

Or, if mouseconfig is present, try it.
