Mouse pointers in Red Hat

after installing Red Hat 7.2 and booting into both KDE and GNOME desktops, my mouse pointer is a 1.25 - 1.5 cm sq white video card is S3 3D/2x...224MB of ram...Dual operating system (XP pro and Linux) XP pro on Western Digital 40.0GB and Linux on Samsung 30.0GB hard drives...PII 300MHZ processor and Abit BH6 motherboard with the latest Bios update (June 2000). Can this mouse pointer problem be corrected and how to do so.....
