Mouse pointer on Simply Mepis live cd setup is slow

My test run of the live cd of Simply Mepis which is found in
the book called Point And Click Linux by Robin Miller gave
a slow and pokey mouse pointer. Further inquiries said to me
this is a common and an unaddressed problem in Debian
distros-- _all_ Debian distros.

I've used the mouse settings/advanced in Mepis to reset
accelleration but this did not accomplish much.

Any current wisdom on this appreciated. I have gone back to
Windows until the cramp in my wrist goes away from
'mouse strain'.

What X server and windows mrg are you using in Mepis. Is the mouse slow just in the GUI. The different windows mgrs have tools to adjust mouse pointer speed. The default mouse speed on all Linux distros that I have used is slow. You need to speed it up a little if this is the problem.

Is it jerking..moving sporaticly..or just slow.

I would call it jerking.

Since I made the install to hd the problem is less noticeable
but why would that be?
