Mouse pointer jumps around the screen

I have been using Mepis for a while now and have been very happy with it (as it is the ONLY distro out of a lot that "just works" with my wireless card, but thats another story). I recently upgraded my keyboard and mouse to a Creative Wireless 6000 pair that plug into a single USB socket. I then found that the mouse would not work correctly, but move very jerkily across the screen. I booted into the 2.4 kernel and this seemed to solve the problem...

I have now decided to upgrade to the pro version of Mepis, but this doesn't seem to offer the 2.4 option - and booting with the 2.6 kernel the mouse goes crazy again. It is extremely difficult to use as the mouse cannot be positioned accurately.

Is there any way to overcome this problem?

Post the mouse section of your XF86Config, or xorg, not sure which one Mepis uses.

FYI, Mepis uses XF86Config-4 which I have posted. I have also included the keyboard section as it might be relevant due to them both being picked up by the same reciever.
