Is that a USB mouse? If it is, try plugging in a ps/2 mouse and see if that works.

If it does work, leave them both plugged into your computer and reboot, being careful to move the ps/2 mouse first after the reboot. Then, continuing to use the ps/2 mouse, every once in a while, check to see if your USB mouse comes to life. It it does, it will be just fine until the next reboot...after which you will have to do this same maneuver to bring the USB back into operation each time.

This is where I am at with my own USB mouse after moving from Mandriva 2007 to Mandriva 2008. And why I am searching this forum.

Hi bob4linux, Welcome to lq. If I read your post correctly and this is a serial mouse,
Quote:

logictech 3button serial mouse
you probably didn't set it up correctly during configuration. Try runningthis.
Code:

system-config-mouse
You can read more here.
Good luck. ;-)

Peacedog is probably right, but if his suggestion doesn't work, this may be a bug that a lot of people are experiencing on different linux flavors.

After your mouse pointer freezes, try unplugging your USB mouse and then replugging it back into the USB port. This fixes mine and it will work perfectly until I shutdown and boot up again.
