Hi,
forgive the post if it's unclear but my knowledge of Linux is rather inept.
I installed RedHat 8.0 a couple of days ago to try it out and the mouse will hardly work since the installation. It's a Logitech wheelmouse and I know that the wheel won't scroll, but that's not the problem. The problem is that the cursor hardly moves. I have to move the mouse about 2 meters for it to move an inch on the desk. It also works differently in that if I pull towards myself roughly, it will move down a bit, but if I do the same towards left or right, it hardly goes anywhere. Trying to navigate with it is pretty much impossible because it doesn't move enough to be worthwhile.
Now, it still works great in Windows 98 and it also worked without any problems in Mandrake 9.0 which I had before I changed to RH8.0.
I used a few different mice in the settings and the only one that actually works is using the Microsoft Intellimouse driver. I went in the preferences for the mouse and set everything under the motion tab at the highest but it changes nothing.
I did not change anything under XF86Config for the simple reason (I am VERY ashamed to say this
) that I couldn't figure out how to get vi into command mode to save my changes!!
Now, through reading this morning, I see that there is a command, mouseconfig, would that be a good start? How about the : Option "Resolution" "N" line, should I go there and change that manually (I don't recall seeing the line though, is it added manually under the 'input device' section or somewhere else?)
I was also advised to use Protocol "imps/2" instead of auto or whatever is in there, could that possibly fix me up as well?
Any advice/solutions would be much appreciated.
