Mouse Failure in Mandrake 10.0???

Hi guys,

Recently downloaded Mandrake 10.0 Community after paying....

Installs fine, had some problems with Sound but fixed that.

BUT. After using KDE (3.2?) for about 5 to 10 minutes, my Mouse just stops working. Just freezes. For no reason. Regardless of what i am doing. I can tab around and use menus from the keyboard just fine. But no mouse. The light is on but no movement.

So, i try to logout of X... And the whole system hangs. I would give you more info but i am in windows ATM. Work and all.

Any help appreciated...

Cheers

Question

I too have/had this problem.

When I first installed 10.0, I only had the first of the installation CDs. Installed it, clicked 'cancel' when it asked for CDs 2 and 3 (and 4?!), restarted, and everything booted just fine, no problems with the mouse - even after hours of use.

Then, after I got my hands on the last two install CDs, I reinstalled Mandrake, rebooted... and my mouse didn't work at all... not even for a little bit. So, I just now tried reinstalling - this time with my mouse plugged into a USB port (I was using an adapter and had it plugged into the standard PS/2 port for the mouse)... rebooted, and the mouse works fine.

I'm down one USB port, but at least I have a functioning mouse! =)
It would be nice to know how to get it working the other way though!

Hmmm, perhaps it's our motherboards? I have a GA-7N400L ...

**EDIT:
Well, actually now I AM having the problems you had with the mouse... minus the system hanging when you go to log off........... so, I don't know what up. I KNOW I didn't have the problem when I just installed off of the first CD, so it has to be something from one of the other two. Grr.
/EDIT**

Well it appears that i have fixed my problem, by doing the opposite.

My mouse was plugged into the USB port, so i plugged into the PS/2 port and now it works fine.....

Now for my Radeon 9200, thats another story.

cheers
