Mouse detected in bios but not assigned IRQ in /proc/interrupts
Hi there,
I am having a problem getting my mouse to work. The bios detects the ps/2 mouse correctly. It should assign the mouse to IRQ 12, however when I list my /proc/interrupts there is nothing assigned to 12? - IRQ 12 is not reserved in bios. - There are no IRQ conflicts that could cause the problem What else could be going wrong that I can look at to fix this problem? This problem is stopping my embedded peewee linux X windows from booting into X. (I initially was checking that XFree86Config was set correctly and looking at /dev/mouse /dev/psaux mappings, but they are all fine....). Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance, Ashley Rolleston aka Onyx^ ashley@smartsw.co.uk |
go into your bios and make sure the option (assign irq to usb) is enabled, that is if you have usb mouse.

No, its a ps/2 mouse

well i think it may be a problem with the kernel I am using and my hardware ?
I use the 2.2.17 kernel. Are there any known issues with IRQ assignment with this build ? I am still wondering if anything else can cause linux to not assign an IRQ to the mouse / not detect the mouse when it is detected in BIOS fine ? Building a new kernel seems a little long winded, especially that it may not solve the problem! However I have used redhat 7.3 on the target system and the mouse works fine. /me bangs head :) Ashley Rolleston aka Onyx^ ashley@smartsw.co.uk |
whoa, that kernel is before my time (I started with 2.4.6 when 2.4 wasrather new) you may want to update keernels.
