yes, "windoze" lol is completely missing from the bootloader, i have no idea why, i had XP installed first, then i used partition magic to make the seperate partitions for linux and linux swap file. then when i rebooted, i got the linux bootloader (of course) and windoze was missing. BTW what do all the different linux OS's in that bootloader mean?

Post OK.

Go to Mandrake Control Center. Click on boot on the left side. Then click 'DrakBoot on the right. You should see a 'configure' button in the upper right side, click that. In the next screen click OK. You don't need to change anything there. You should then get a screen that shows the different linux OS's. Click 'Add'. Then click other 'OS Windows'. In the next screen in the pull down Menu for "/dev/hda1". I got that from your earlier post of fstab file. Also put the same for table. Put a check next to 'default' if you want windoze to boot by default. Click OK. Then you should go back to the screen with the OS list. Window should be added. Click OK.

Close your programs and try to boot to windows. If it doesn't work you can hit the reset and boot to Linux. We'll try another setting.

As I said, I have never did this but this should work. Basically it points to the windoze partition and windows goes from there.

Post back either way.

When you first turn on the system and it comes up, what shows on the boot screen? Is it the list posted earlier without windows? This is getting weird. You are using the arrow keys to select the OS to boot right?

If it is not showing up at all. I would boot from the Mandake CD and hit F1 then type in rescue. See if it will let you add it that way. If not, you may want to try to do a update. Boot from the Mandrake CD and select upgrade. Hopefully it will recognise the windows part then and let you add it. I have never had Mandrake not recognize windoze before and not add it.

I'm running out of ideas. May have to go do a bit of searching here myself.

post back with what you get, I'll start diggin.

Exclamation Okie dokie

Maybe someone will have new ideas by then too.

Here's the basic problem for new readers

Installed Mandrake and windoze does not show up in the bootloader. Adding with DrakBoot in MCC did not work.

Any ideas???

If you used Partition Magic to "add another OS" then I think I may know what happened because it happened to me. For some reason PM "hides" the windows partition when setting the Linux partition "active". This made it invisible to LILO, so using the PM boot floppy and program, I unhid the Windows partition and ran Drakboot again and it picked it up.
