Mounting my USB external drive, USB 1.1

I have an USB 1.1 external harddrive that i would like to mount to my linux laptop to use. This laptop is dual boot with windows XP and the drive works fine on windows. How can i mount this USB drive to linux? The external drive in question is partitioned in half if that matters.

something like mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usbHD

that should put you on the right track
