mounting fat32 partition ... help

I have crated a fat32 partition for sharing between windows and linux.

cant manage to mount it

i have tried

mount -t vfat /dev/hd5 /mnt/shared

it says

FAT:bogus number of reserved sectors

mount:wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda5,
missing codepage or other error
