mounting CDs and checking file integrity

I am using Ubuntu 9.04 in my Desktop. While writing files on CDs using 'brasero', I am able to write and then access the files later. But when I try to check file integrity using brasero, I am unable to do it. I am asked to 'Use md5 file to check the disc' and when I click it goes blank and I am unable to check file integrity. Neither I am able to 'mount' the CDs. This appear to create problems later on while adding / deleting files in RW CDs. Please help in mounting CDs and checking file integrity.

To use md5 you write the cd, and then run

md5sum filename(s)

e.g. md5sum /mnt/cdrom/* if that's where the cdrom is. Do likewise with the files on disc.
man md5sum
