Mounting CD-ROM, Smartcard in Gentoo

What system of automount (autofs, supermount, etc) can I use to automatically mount my CD-ROM's, my floppy drive, and my smartcard, and if possible, can somebody help me set it up? Im running Gentoo 2006.0. I tried the Gentoo Wiki about autofs, but i seem to be missing something. Thanks
