Mounting a data DVD
I've just fitted a DVD writer at work. I brought I freshly burned data DVD to test it with. I've hooked up the drive, added it to fstab and can mount and browse a CD through it so I guess I've plumbed it in right.
The thing is that I can't mount my data DVD I brought from home. I get this error: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdb, missing codepage or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so I tried looking in syslog and dmesg but didn't find anything useful that I could understand. I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether this message is telling me that my data DVD is duff or that I need to do something else to be able to read it. This is the line from my fstab: /dev/hdb /cdrom1 iso9660 ro 0 0 I know that a simple solution is to try a data DVD that I know works but I'm stuck at work for 3 days and nights and was hoping to get this sorted . Any help appreciated. |
it might not be iso9660 allot of dvds are udf try changing iso9660 to auto and see if that works

DVD writer no good at reading
It was an iso9660, I managed to get hold of a DVD-ROM drive and install it. The DVD-ROM reads it just fine, just that the writer is crap at reading I guess. Thanks anyway.
