Mounting a cdrom on Linux from the shared network system windows XP
hi
i have a red hat 9 system and a windows xp system.
i have installed red hat using a cd-rom drive. then i removed the cdrom drive and now using it in a windows xp system.
i need to upgrade the red hat system.
for that i need to use the cdrom. i dont want to remove the cdrom from xp system.
i need to mimic the cdrom on the redhat system.
i used samba server to mount the cdrom
smbmount //mysystem/E /mnt/cdrom -o username=linux,workgroup=test,password=linux
with the above command i was able to mount the drive on the /mnt/cdrom. and the contant of the cd was visible.
The real problem is when i use the 'System settings->add/remove application' i choose to upgrade i get a message 'insert disk 3' though i have mounted the cdrom and the content is present.
i would appreciate if some one can help me to upgrade my system from a network cdrom drive.
