Mounting a card reader (SD cards only)
Hi all, having a bit of trouble mounting my usb card reader, while its plugged in with a card in the slot ive tried
Code:
mount -t vfat /dev/sdc /mnt/flash/
but i get
Code:
mount: /dev/sdc is not a valid block device
Any help appreciated.

Is that your only usb device? if so try /dev/sda/...
also, it may (depending on your distro), automount itself. try (in a terminal)
mount
see if it is mounted already and where...

To see what is seen do the follow commands and post the output.
lsmod
cat /proc/scsi/scsi
lspci
lsusb
and the following requires root.
fdisk -l
Also what is this hardware exactly. Brand and model. Also if it dows more than one type of media cards other than SD cards, meaning multi-media-slot cardreader.

Thanks for the replys. I have 3 other usb devices, a mouse, a keyboard and a joypad. Not 100% about the auto mounting, slackware 10.2 automounts my cd/dvd's but i think that might be the "auto" in fstab, not sure.
[EDIT]: The card reader only has 1 slot for SD cards, it doesnt have a brand heh.

The problem is sdc is not a block device. meaning you need to specify a partition, like /dev/sdb1 in your case.
