mount two NTFS drives in Redhat 9. One mounts, the other won't ??
 

hey guys. you all have helped out so much. Hopefully someone can help me here. I'm running Redhat 9 with the latest kernel updates and I'm trying to mount my 2 NTFS drives. Now I'v edited fstab for both. It looks like this:

Now the problem that I'm having is this. When the pc boots, the HDB1 drive mounts just fine. I can use it and it's great, but the hdc2 will not mount. this is the error when that drive tryies to mount:

[root@linux root]# mount -t ntfs /dev/hdc2 /mnt/second
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdc2,
or too many mounted file systems

I can not figure out how to mount this second drive . Is it because it is not on HDC1? If that is the case, how do I get it to HDC1? Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks a lot

Sorry, I was wondering if you could indulge my paranoia a bit, I've never trusted the output of sfdisk. What's the "dmesg" scan look like on the drive partitions? It should look something like the indented part of this:

Hi..

Please post ur fdisk -l /dev/hdc output.

May be the partition u are trying to mount may be an extended partition.

does the directory /mnt/second exist?

hey guys... I really appreciate all the help you guys give ...... I'm not sure what the deal is with the NTFS part of Linux. It seems that you can't mount 2 drives with NTFS partitions - Maybe?? I don't know ... I used Partition Magic and converted the drive to FAT32 and it now mounts fine... which is better anyways because you can read and write to a fat partition.... I'll mess with the second ntfs problem later I guess... I have on NTFS drive mounted fine... Thanks again ....
