I just got a V3xx but have not been able to mount it as a USB storage device. I get a message saying that I need to specify the filesystem type. How did you mount your phone? Did you need a memory card first?
In your phone, go to:
- USB Settings
- Select External Memory
then attach your phone to USB,
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/something
or try
mount /dev/sda /mnt/something
sblantipodi, thanks for your reply. I was trying the commands you asked me to try when I had trouble mounting the phone. However, I've solved the problem. The answer is that the V3xx does need a SD card installed before it can be mounted (only the SD memory is mounted, not the internal phone memory). Once I installed the 2 gig card, Kubuntu automatically recognized and mounted the SD memory as a USB removable drive.
Now I'm going to create some custom ringtones with Audacity. Yay, I love linux/open source!
