Motorola SM56 Driver for 2.6.5

Hello people. I'm new here, and to Linux.

I've identified my modem as a motorola SM56. And i've got the driver too, but its only for kernel 2.4.x. My distribution is Fedora Core 2, with kernel 2.6.5. The driver is uncompatible.

I couldn't find an updated motorola driver anywhere. So, is it possible to go back to a previous kernel version? If yes, how do i do that? and by going back, is there any problem?

Regards.

I have the same problem. I am going crazy looking for a driver that works in 2.6 kernels, and I think that I will never find one that works.

There is a driver for kernel 2.6 in Motorola's web page, for Mandrake. It didn't work for me but maybe it'll work for you.

If it does not work, you can always use a 2.4 kernel. You can have several kernels in your HD, and at boot time you tell lilo (or grub) wich one to load.
