I have a problem with the SM56 modem which I have still not resolved, but there is a fix for the segmentation fault when you try to insert the module. Try the following website.

www.angelfire.com/linux/sm56/

probably sm56 wont work because the kernel of u are using is being complied using gcc 3 and sm56 uses gcc 2 so it wont work.
i got this message in the redhat oprating system

morghen 05-11-2003 12:33 PM

crap...can i compile the kernel with gcc 2 ?
do you think it will work then ?

masand 05-11-2003 12:42 PM

well i canot say abt that whther the kernel 2.4 which we have in redhat can be compiled with gcc2

masand 05-11-2003 12:52 PM
