I am trying to use my motorola c330 gprs cellphone to connect to the internet. i am using fedora 3.
the phone is detected and configured as it shows up when i searched for it but i can't seem to get it to work. i would appreciate any help as i am a newbie to linux. i've tried easy connect but i can't get that to install either because it keeps asking for pearl tk.
is their a easier way to do it.

Hi,

Not long ago I figured out how to make it work on fedora core 3.

So, first of all edit the /etc/rc.d/rc.local as a superuser
(open a terminal, login as su and type
gedit /etc/rc.d/rc.local

add the following line to the text
ln - /dev/ttyACM0 /dev/modem

save and exit

reboot

Then on KPPP the modem should be recognized on /dev/modem
Query the modem just to be sure

Then you should add the initialization commands
For me (I'm using a provider in Italy so, it's definitely not right for you but just to give you an idea) string 1 is: ATZ and string 2 is AT+cgdcont=1,"IP","ibox.tim.it",,0,0
You should ask your provider for information on that. Then just setup KPPP with your username, password and number to call (all this info should be given to you by your provider too) and launch the connection.

Just that simple!

Wait sorry I just checked my previous message and just saw that I had forgot the s on ln -s /dev/ttyACM0 /dev/modem

So open again (as root) the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local
gedit /etc/rc.d/rc.local

Correct the line
ln -s /dev/ttyACM0 /dev/modem

Just correcting the line on /etc/rc.d/rc.local and rebooting should work
If not you should check if ttyACM0 is there
ls -l /dev/ttyACM0

And if not (which I don't think is the case) create it
mknod /dev/ttyACM0 c 166 0

Keep me posted
