motherboard WOL signals??

What signaling is used on the WOL pins of a 2.1 PCI complaint motherboard? I am using a ASUS motherboard that is PIC 2.1. The OS is RedHat 8.0. The nic card works fine on the network (boots up on DHCP). The wake up packet is formed correctly as seen in ethereal. I have tested this card on two different motherboards (optioned the BIOS’s every way I can think of) and cannot get the WOL feature to work. I am looking for a way to isolate the trouble. I would like to know what signaling a motherboard needs for the WOL features to work (i.e. a close/open or voltage/ground on what pins)
