In the near future I'll be upgrading my system to a higher speed CPU/motherboard, etc and I'm checking out the kit I'm going
to use. As I use Linux 99.5% of the time it's obviously important to me to make sure it's all compatible and I'd appreciate a bit of advice......

The mobo I want to use is an Abit one (a brand I've used in the past with no problems) but the exact model number doesn't appear in the Mandrake supported hardware list or any Linux hardware sites I've checked.

Is it fairly safe to assume that as it's a decent brand (and most other boards made by it are compatible), that the one
I want to use will be OK? Or is that wishful thinking......

....I've since found that the board I want is almost identical to another Abit board that IS shown on the hardware lists - the only difference is mine supports DDR memory. (Same chipset, etc).

Fairly safe bet - or does anyone disagree?

Look if its chipset is supported. If it is, there's 99.999% chance it works.
