I think it's just like learning anything new, the more you read, the clearer the jargon becomes. If you want to learn Linux, that means you already like to learn new stuff, right? Learning about hardware can be fun, too. I suggest you do some searches in Google using phrases like "motherboard comparison" "motherboard review" "chipset comparison" etc. There are TONS of articles. Just read the ones that have formats you find useable. Good luck!
