More than 4 IDE drives?

I've been wanting to try out FreeBSD for a while, but I don't have any way to connect another HD to my setup. I've got 2 40GB HD's & 2 CD drives (dvd & burner).

How can I add another hard drive to my current setup so I can give FreeBSD a whirl?

I'd like to keep everything inside my case, if possible. (I'm a klutz). Plus, those are a bit pricey & I'd like to keep the cost down as much as possible, since I'm a poor college bum and all.

Choices:

1. Replace an existing drive with a bigger one.

2. Buy a USB drive?

3. buy an additional PCI IDE controller card and another HD

4. Better yet buy a SCSI controller card then you can add an additional 7 drives.
