Monitor and network in MEPIS

Hey all,

I downloaded SimplyMEPIS 2004.04 today to try out and possibly use to replace Fedora Core 2 with. However, I have encountered 2 problems.

1. My network adapter won't startup, and
2. I can't get my resolution past 800x600

The second problem I can explain better. When X starts in 1024x768 it looks like a TV with bad reception. The picture is all fuzzy, and it does this no matter if I boot up into kernel 2.6.7 or 2.4.47 (I think the last one is correct). But when I boot into 800x600 in kernel 2.6.7 it works just fine. I have an old 15in monitor but I know the max resolution is 1024x769 because thats the resolution I use in Fedora Core 2 and Windows.

The first I just get a message that says eth0 could not start.

I was willing to handwrite the lspci output from mepis to post but quess what (and this might get me to use something else anyway), they don't have lspci. I tried running the command /sbin/lspci and I get a directory does not exist error or something like that. So I open up the file browser and check out the /sbin/ folder and is was right no lspci. so here's the lspci output from FC2 though I don't see how it will be any help.
