Monitor - adjusting geometry with sax2 in suse

Im having a bit of trouble getting my monitor to work properly on suse 9.0.

Im using KDE and have new Dell 17 inch monitor.

The problem is as follows:

I am using the same resolution and refresh I have on slackware and it worked fine there (although everything was a little large for my tastes).

I just got suse installed, and im all set up, except the graphics are all fuzzy... text is fine, just menu graphics are fuzzed.

Ive tried using the SaX2 package to modify the monitor settings with different refresh rates (to no avail).

what i did find, however, is that the "Geometry" setting is set to 1280x1024 @ 77hz even though this isnt the monitor setting 1024x768 @ 75hz. When i try to modify the geometry, I cant.... so i assume it is this geometry setting that is messing things up.

although i prefer this higher resoultion with smaller icons and text, it should be 1024x768.

when i go in to adjust "geometry", i click the buttons to adjust the position or size, and absolutely nothing happens.

any help? ive searched newsgroups, suse support, and google for an answer and cant find anything.

Thanks for any help.

Josh
