Monitor @ 56Hz
Howdy, Im having a bit of trouble, Im recently installed RH 7.3 and would like a higher screen reso rather than 800x600, now my problem is that my monitor only supports upto 56Hz, now in windows 2000, I change one setting to 56Hz, then this would allow my monitor to goto 1024x768 without screaming, Now i've tried Xconfigurator. and xvidtune with no avail, I would just like to know if i can change just the refresh to 56Hz and nothing else??
Many thanks indeed!

try this site, pretty handy. you'll just need a little bit of manual editing to your /etc/X11/XF86Config file

well
I cant really edit the x86config file or whatever it is, because i dont know the vertical or horizontal sync ranges etc, My monitor is an ICL 14c, And my monitor company have no info on my model, so i cant get these ranges, And all i know is that it runs ok at 1024x768 @ 56Hz

just guess, they will normally be on the back anyway. start with pretty low values and increase it until it screws up

Nah it tells me nothing on the back of my monitor part from freaking voltage to use it at!!
Im using an SiS agp 64Mb onboard crap,
And b4 i got this board i had an old matrox millenium 4mb card in here, and that worked fine when i set it to 1024x768, it would default to 56Hz for me, Must of been the ages of it! was pretty old
Never mind, I will have live crampt for now.
Many thanks for taking time and replying

so you're just not prepared to even try? what's the point in asking if you're not even willing to give something a go?
