module parport_pc creates characters on the printer

Hi everybody

I've a sabayon systems (fresh install) and everytime I boot the system my printer memory is filled with some characters (Which means the led signs there is something to print - and if I press paper eject some characters are printed) The same happens if I rmmod parport_pc and afterwards modprobe parport_pc.

I have a Laserjet 5L connected to my parport which is directly on my motherboard (MSI MS-7238). My Kernel Version is 3.6.0

Any suggestions how to get rid of the annoying characters?

Kind regards

I had the same problem once upon a time. It seemed to originate with the hardware, because the same problem happened in other OS's as well, when the port was put into one of the bi-directional modes. The problem was solved by replacing the parallel port hardware. I forget the make/manufacturer of the parallel port; it was a PCI (or maybe even ISA) plugin card.

Strange is: It only happens with gentoo / sabayon. Other distributions doesn't show this behavior. But I'll have a look I have parallel port card hang around.

Are there some module parameter which I could pass at boot time?
