modem wont finalize
 

I just installed a PCMCIA modem Psion Dacom Gold Global 56K+Fax today. It works fine in windows cause i am using it right now. In linux, FC3, kudzu configures it as /dev/modem1 and /dev/modem i configured system-config-network for the modem1 device. i then added the device and input the phone number and everything. when i press activate, it dials makes all those modem noises (psafdyhisao) u know those....and then just stops. it never finalizes the connection. i am going to try to deactivate the firewall and try a couple of other things, but i need someones help. how do i get this working??? thanks for any help

Well I'm a complete newbie so just my expirience:

I had that probllem when I was trying to log on to my provider with PAP (or whatever) authentication and he was using CHAP authentication.

That was on Mandrake and kppp as a dialer.

Maybe it's something like that.

WRONG USERNAME...GENERAL STUPIDITY...MY ISP USES A USERNAME WHERE U HAVE TO ADD THE @....COM AFTER IT. I HATE STUPID MOMENTS
