This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I have a silver model speed touch. I tried to copy mgmt.o from floppy but system refused that. it seems that the system don't recognize the floppy even if Ican open the floppy and fields in. When install fail Mandriva ask to copy mgmt*.o into /usr/share/speedtouch but I it was impossible even if I'm root.
I tried an other way and I succeeded to split config field into lib directory but I did'nt copy it to hotplug because system refuse it.
I have the same problem! I cant configure my speedtouch 330 to run on linux i've tried tons and tons of ways to get it to work.. but the result was still zero.
Does anybody know a way at which i just all i have to do is setup a software that do everything? or do i have to compile and do things i will never be able to do yet as i am a total linux nube??? speedtouch 330 the silver one, im not sure if it is the same virsion of hardware you ment.. but i i have the feeling that it is.
please someone help with this? i have tried the speedtouch website but i couldnt find the driver for linux.. i found the firmware.. and i could put the mgmt.o into /usr/share/speedtouch as it asked me to do so.. .. but then when i click on 'test the connection' it says that the system cant connect to the internet!! then i went crazy....!!!!!!!!!!! any body give suggestions please... thanks
If anyone is still having a problem with this, I have successfully got my 330 thomson speedtouch working with Mandriva 2006 (with a tiscali account in the uk). I followed Steve Parkers instructions and ran his script. http://steve-parker.org/speedtouchconf/
I first tried installing through the control centre and messing about with mgmt.so file etc, but it did not work .
I have a black modem that is a v4 and used the zip files on the link.
good of you to post this, I also got it working with Mandriva 2006 although I used the speedtouch site firmware, I am stuck though trying to get it to work with Alinux if you have a spare hour see this link http://www.flightsimhq.org/peanut/ph...?p=11931#11931
