Question Modem Problems


I am using Mandrake 9 and i have set up all the drivers for my US Robotics 5610, and when i try to connect throught KPPP i get stuck at Initializing and it just sits there. All and any help will be greatly appreciated

first go to kppp and select configure
then select modem and then select query modem
check whether any response is present. and normally the modem is present at /dev/ttys0(com1). if all is ok then try connecting, if this too doesn,t solve ur problem goto modem commands in configure->modem->edit->modem commands and add ATX1 as the extra initialisation string. by default ATZ will be present as initialisation string 1.Add ATX1 as the next extra initialisation string.
This would solve ur problem.

okay, that didnt work, i tried reinstalling the driver that i got off of USR's website and when i tried installing it in KPackage and i guess it didnt work the first time either because i got a prompt for my root password and it wouldnt let me type anything. and i logged into root and it wouldnt go either so idk if anyone could help, thanks in advance
