hi

I am very new to Linux and so far i am enjoying it, the only problem is my modem.
i have tired to setup my modem and i think i am doing it right, it has asked me what com port it is in and i selected Com 3 as that is what it is in windows, (i think that is ttyS2) and when i finished the setup it doesn't detect my modem.

now then, drivers, do i have to get them for this?, and for a diamond supra sst 56i pro df where can i get linux drivers?

i have setup a symbolic link between ttyS2 and /dev/modem but that didn't work.

What kind of modem is it? Chances are that you'll need to get WinModem drivers for it because it's not a "real" modem. Check out www.linmodems.org and see if you can find anything out there. I had a Lucent Winmodem that I was able to get working in Linux. That was before I got DSL and then a T3. Hehe. :-p
