Modem not working in Slack9
Alrite
I upgraded from slack8.1 to slack9 on my old compaq 710 laptop and lost the ability to use my modem, and when I bought my Vaio V505 I have the same problem. The modem install goes ok but i always receive the modem is busy dialogue. The modem is a winmodem (conextant, hsf, full name = cxt ac-link). On my old laptop the modem is also conexant (hsf).
I read online that the hsf wouldn't work with the new vaio but I then read a few weeks later that it will and a few people have got it working right.
I checked the boot up log and I see that I get alot of failed loadings and it tells me to enable pci=biosirq (so I added: append="pci=biosirq" hoping it would fix the problem).
The modem is on IRQ9 and if I do a "less /proc/pci" I see that it brings the modem info up "Modem: Intel Corp. 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Modem (rev 2)."
Can anybody help me set up this modem correctly? Does something have to be enabled for it to work int the make menuconfig section of compiling the kernel?
Cheers

Did you install the drivers? You can get them at www.linuxant.com. I got the "busy modem" error before I installed these, now my connexant works like a charm.
