Modem Not Detecting
Hello Everybody,
I have a Motorola SM56 IC Modem Installed in my PC. My Fedora Core 2 is not detecting that modem. how should i install drivers of the modem. please help Sagar |
Do you know if that's a winmodem or not (most internal modems are)? If so, you should get the number off your modem and check for drivers for it. www.linuxant.com is a good site for drivers.

can you tell me what a winmodem is?

Its a modem that uses a little hardware and a lot of software to connect to the internet, and that software is specifically designed for Windows. This makes the modem a lot cheaper. If you have a winmodem and want to use it in Linux, you need to download drivers so that Linux will know how to use the software to connect to the internet too.
