Modem Not Detecting
 
Hello Everybody,

I have a Motorola SM56 IC Modem Installed in my PC. My Fedora Core 2 is not detecting that modem. how should i install drivers of the modem. please help

Do you know if that's a winmodem or not (most internal modems are)? If so, you should get the number off your modem and check for drivers for it. www.linuxant.com is a good site for drivers.

Its a modem that uses a little hardware and a lot of software to connect to the internet, and that software is specifically designed for Windows. This makes the modem a lot cheaper. If you have a winmodem and want to use it in Linux, you need to download drivers so that Linux will know how to use the software to connect to the internet too.

Thanks, ya my modem is a win modem. Where can i get drivers for SM56 motorola modem specificly? i have installed Fedora core 2 on my PC.

Try www.linuxant.com. That's where I got drivers for my winmodem.
