Modem not detected


i got fedora 7 installed and my modem is not detected..
i went to linmodems.org and downloaded the required scanmodem files to test my modem..
i sent mail to dem but it was undelivered.
i think its a softmodem.which modem driver should i need to install for the modem to work..

Dear Baskar:

Did you install the wvdial utility? I think Fedora 7 installs it by default. Once you have that, just give the command <wvdialconf create> and post the output, or even better, using the details of the output, use kppp and setup the modem and your phone connection etc. Just click connect. BTW, kppp is also installed by default on Fedora 7. You do not need to install any drivers here; it is just a simple configuration!

Is it a PCI card modem?
If so post output of ' /sbin/lspci -v '.
Now what did scanmodem output say?

ScanModem would have produced many text files in the same directory that you were in when you ran it. The "modemdata.txt" file tells you which modem you have, if it is supported or not and gives you links to the source code needed to compile modules (drivers) for it along with a lot more information.
If you have problems reading it, post it here for further assistance.
