Modem Help
I have an IBM Thinkpad 380XD. I'm using Vectorlinux 2.0, which is based on Slackware.
Well, I got a hold of a Robotics 56k external modem and hooked it up to the laptop's serial port (ttyS0, com1) and it works fine with Win98.
But it seems not to work with Vectorlinux at all. I used the pppsetup program to setup the modem section and when I try dialing, I get nothing. Also when I used Minicom to see if it works, I still get nothing. When I type at command, I don't see the ok prompt.
Any suggestions on how to test the modem with Linux?
Thnx.

look in win98 and see if your modem is using irq 4.
if it is any other irq, thats why the ttyS0 doesn't see it.
you can use a setserial command to alter ttyS0 if
necessary.
